Ambassador Joseph Mondello yesterday handed over US$22,000 worth of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Minister of National Security, Stuart Young to assist in managing the spread of COVID-19. The handover took place at the Ministry of National Security, Abercromby Street, Port of Spain.
The PPE included 10,000 cloth face masks and 40 non-contact hand-held thermometer scanners. They will be distributed to first responders by the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM),
Ambassador Mondello and Minister Young both noted the donation demonstrates the existing longstanding bilateral security cooperation between the United States and Trinidad and Tobago.
Also in attendance were the Embassy’s Chief, Military Liaison Office, Colonel Claudia Carrizales, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of National Security Vel Lewis and Chief Executive Officer of the ODPM Major General (Ret’d) Rodney Smart.
