March 17, 2020
As of March 17, 2020, the U.S. Embassy Port of Spain is operating at reduced staffing and suspending all appointments.
Effective March 17, 2020, American Citizens Services will offer emergency services only for U.S. citizens. Routine services not related to safety, such as passport renewals without imminent travel, are not considered emergencies and will not be scheduled at this time.
For U.S. citizens who currently have appointments scheduled March 17 or later, those appointments are canceled. You will need to reschedule your appointment once we reopen for regular services by contacting us using the information listed below.
Please do not come to the embassy without contacting us in advance.
The embassy will resume routine visa services as soon as possible but are unable to provide a specific date at this time. If a visa interview is canceled, the visa applicant will receive an email notification and may reschedule at their convenience once visa operations return to normal. The MRV fee is valid and may be used for a visa application in the country where it was purchased within one year of the date of payment. For visa-related questions contact the embassy at ConsularPOS@state.gov.
The U.S. Embassy Port of Spain will provide further information once routine services are operational again.
