Temporary Expansion of Interview Waiver Eligibility Timeframe
2 MINUTE READ
September 14, 2020

Port of Spain, September 14, 2020: The timeframe for which non-immigrant visa renewals may qualify for interview waivers has been temporarily expanded to 24 months from 12 months for persons applying to renew their visa in the same classification. This policy is in effect until Dec 31, 2020.

This change will allow consular officers to continue processing certain nonimmigrant visa applications while limiting the number of applicants who must appear at the U.S. Embassy for a visa interview, thereby reducing the risk of COVID-19 transmission to other applicants and consular staff.

Previously, only those applicants whose non-immigrant visas had expired within the previous 12 months were eligible for an interview waiver. Application information including a link to the DS-160 nonimmigrant visa application form is available on the Information and Appointment website at https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-tt/niv
