The Southern Partnership Station 18 (SPS18) subject matter expert exchanges (SMEE) between the U.S. Navy and Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard ended successfully Aug 22, following two weeks of diving and medical care exercises designed to enhance coordination in regional maritime activities and improve the operational readiness and interoperability of participants.

For the capstone event, Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service and the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service joined EMT’s from the Trinidad and Tobago Defense Force and U.S. Navy Sailors from SPS18 Fleet Health Engagement Team (FHET), to respond to a simulated mass casualty critical incident — Category 4 hurricane — at Chacachacare Island.
