Message for U.S. Citizens

March 28, 2020

Location: Trinidad and Tobago

Event: The U.S. Embassy Port of Spain advises Americans in Trinidad and Tobago who wish to return to the United States of a charter flight scheduled to depart Port of Spain for Miami on Wednesday, April 1 at noon. If you wish to book travel on this flight, please call 1 (603) 929 9300 or send an e-mail to ClientServices@PJSGroup.com. Please note: as this is a charter flight; the cost of a ticket will be substantially higher than typical commercial fares.

We recognize this has been a challenging period for many U.S. citizens attempting to return home after the border closure associated with the COVID-19 global health emergency. The U.S. Embassy does not know when regularly scheduled commercial flights to the United States will resume. Those who do not travel on this flight should be prepared to remain in Trinidad and Tobago until regular commercial flights are once again available.

You must have valid travel documents to board this flight. Please check that you have a valid U.S. passport or valid foreign passport and U.S. Legal Permanent Resident card (green card). If you need assistance with emergency documentation please contact the embassy immediately at PortofSpainUSCitizen@state.gov or call 622-6371.

Note that if you are experiencing any symptoms such as fever, coughing, sneezing or shortness of breath you will not be allowed to board the flight. Please do not come to the airport if you have any of these symptoms.

Government officials in Trinidad and Tobago have taken significant steps to mitigate risk and ensure the health care system will be available to those who require life saving measures. As of March 28, Trinidad and Tobago has 76 confirmed cases. The local government continues implementing new measures to further limit the spread of the virus. For more information on the GOTT response please visit releases from Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago’s Ministry of Health.

For the most up to date information in real time, please also check the embassy’s Facebook Page, Instagram (@USinTT), and Twitter feed (@USinTT) and the embassy’s website.
