Signing of FATCA agreement between U.S. and TT

 

“This is a huge step in the right direction. We appreciate the partnership and cooperation from the Trinidad and Tobago government on moving forward on this important issue.” – Ambassador John Estrada with Minister of Finance Colm Imbert and Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Dennis Moses at the signing ceremony of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and the Government of the United States of America to Improve International Tax Compliance and to Implement the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA).

Minister Imbert said the signing of the agreement, “is a demonstration of extreme good faith.”  He said the agreement allows for the sharing of information following which the GORTT will table legislation in Parliament to make it mandatory for the TT Board of Inland Revenue to provide information to the U.S.
