Event: The U.S. Embassy in Port of Spain is sending regular updates to ensure that all U.S. citizens in Trinidad and Tobago have the latest information on COVID-19, and local conditions in Trinidad and Tobago. To help you during this time, the U.S. Embassy has created a resource guide with information about locally available and online resources for your security and wellbeing.
The following information has been updated on the U.S. Embassy Port of Spain COVID-19 website:
- Trinidad and Tobago closed its borders to both nationals and non-nationals as of March 22, 2020 . This measure was revised on April 25 and border closure remains in effect until May 15.
- Effective April 25, the Government of Trinidad and Tobago extended the nationwide “Stay at Home” order through May 15. Movement during this period is limited to authorized purposes and essential business only.
- Individuals out in public may be stopped by law enforcement and asked to justify their movement. Anyone determined to have breached this public health ordinance may be found liable for a fine of 50,000 TT and imprisonment for up to six months.

U.S. citizens experiencing symptoms, or who have reason to believe they have been exposed to COVID-19 are advised for their own health to stay at home and contact the Trinidad and Tobago Ministry of Health at +1 (868) 627-1047; 1 (868) 623-8492; +1 (868) 627-0010; +1 (868) 627-0012; +1 (868) 627-0014, and follow their instructions. Government officials in Trinidad and Tobago have taken significant steps to mitigate risk and ensure the health care system will be available to those who require life saving measures.
