JOHN W. MCINTYRE
John joined the U.S. State Department in September, 1999. He assumed duties as Deputy Chief of Mission for U.S. Embassy, Trinidad and Tobago on July 15, 2016
Prior to his current assignment in Trinidad and Tobago, John was the Managing Director for Resources for Public Diplomacy and his duties include oversight of the $1.2 billion Public Diplomacy budget as well as operational and strategic planning for human resources for Public Diplomacy within the State Department.
His other tours include: Colombo, (Management Counselor), Kabul (Program Manager, Strategic Communications), Brunei (Deputy Chief of Mission), Under Secretary for Management (M) (Special Assistant), EUR-IO/EX (Post Management Officer), Kosovo (Management Officer), Panama (Political/Counselor Officer) and Trinidad and Tobago (General Services Officer).
Prior to joining the Department, John worked for the Federal Reserve Bank in Kansas City. He also worked for the Kansas Legislature as a Performance Auditor.
John is a native of Texas. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison (BA in Political Science and Communication Arts) and the University of Kansas (Masters in Public Administration). John is married to Flora Zylfijaj, a native of Kosovo, and also a State Department employee. They have two children, Emma Teuta McIntyre and Ian Ilir McIntyre.
