Message for U.S. citizens: Potential Measles Outbreak

Venezuela is experiencing an outbreak of the measles virus. Several countries in the region have reported cases of measles associated with travelers from Venezuela. Measles is highly contagious, but vaccination provides good protection from this disease. To ensure protection, persons from the U.S. born after 1957 should ensure that they have had two documented doses of the MMR vaccine.  If you cannot locate such documentation, please contact your health provider for instructions on obtaining the vaccination.
