Port of Spain January 7, 2015: Iconic calypsonians the Mighty Sparrow and Lord Superior are set to light up the stage with a live performance immediately following the Caribbean premiere of the documentary film The Glamour Boyz Again: The Mighty Sparrow and Lord Superior on The Hilton Rooftop. The highly anticipated FREE event takes place at the Globe Cinema on Sunday, January18 at 6:00 p.m.
The U.S. Embassy has partnered with the trinidad+tobago film festival, RBC Royal Bank and International Arts Alliance to host the special evening. In addition to the film—which is part of the Festival’s 5th annual Carnival Film Series—patrons will be treated to an exclusive live performance by the Mighty Sparrow and Lord Superior. The kaiso veterans will also receive honorary awards from the U.S. Embassy.
“Mighty Sparrow and Lord Superior have brought the joy, wit, rhythm, and social commentary of Caribbean music to audiences throughout the world,” said Chargé d’Affaires Margaret B. Diop. “The U.S. Embassy in Port of Spain is proud to honor these two great calypsonians, who, in their lives and work, symbolize the close friendship between the United States and Trinidad and Tobago.”
Producer/Director of The Glamour Boyz, Geoffrey Dunn said: “I couldn’t be happier that Glamour Boyz will be at the Globe Cinema. Working with Sparrow and Superior on this film was a long time in the making, but worth the wait.”
