Date: November, 5, 2020
Location: Port of Spain
Event: The U.S. Embassy Port of Spain has been advised of a flight with commercial carrier JetBlue from Port of Spain to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) on Tuesday, November 10th, for the purpose of repatriating U.S. citizens. We urge U.S. citizens (and U.S. Legal Permanent Residents) wishing to travel to the United States to visit the airline’s website to book a seat – www.jetblue.com. Individuals may opt to call JetBlue’s reservation line but should expect long wait times. These flights tend to sell out very quickly.
The website is the quickest way to ensure you can book a seat.
The U.S. Embassy cannot book tickets or hotel reservations on behalf of a passenger. Baggage and pet arrangements must be coordinated directly with the airline when purchasing tickets. Onward travel options are the responsibility of the traveler and should be made as soon as possible with available commercial airlines operating out of FLL airport.
The U.S. Embassy does not know when regularly scheduled commercial flights to the United States will resume. The U.S. Embassy continues to work with airlines and the Ministry of National Security to secure additional repatriation flights. However, at this time, there are no other scheduled flights to the United States or other countries. U.S. citizens who choose not to take this flight should be prepared to remain in Trinidad and Tobago until commercial air travel resumes.
Travelers are reminded that you must have valid travel documents to board this flight. Please check that you have a valid U.S. passport or valid foreign passport and U.S. Legal Permanent Resident card (green card). If you need assistance with emergency documentation please email the embassy immediately at ACSPOS@state.gov.
Note that if you are experiencing any symptoms such as fever, coughing, sneezing or shortness of breath you will not be allowed to board the flight. Please do not come to the airport if you have any of these symptoms.
Please do *not* contact the U.S. Embassy to make a flight reservation.
