The U.S. Embassy supported the visit of U.S. speaker Dr. Jeri Dyson during March 7 to 10 for International Women’s Day. Dr. Dyson participated in several gender related activities during her visit. She led a gender issues round table discussion attended by various gender stakeholders in Trinidad. She also visited Tobago where she took part in school visits, spreading an important message of empowerment for girls and women. Dr. Dyson was also the feature speaker at the Lily Foundation’s International women’s Day conference on March 10 in Tobago. Dr. Dyson was joined by the Embassy’s Tobago Liaison Kevin Ogley other powerful female speakers at this event which was focused on creating a forum for open sharing between teen girls and women with the goal of creating support networks for females facing gender related problems in Tobago.
Dr. Dyson, an adolescent medicine physician specializing in sexuality, intimacy and effective teen-parent communication, is also the President of Global Girls Global Women, Inc. Dr. Dyson devotes her full time to national and global programs for girls and women.
