Megan Selmon Kelly, a career Foreign Service Officer, is the Deputy Chief of Mission in U.S. Embassy Port of Spain. Prior to arriving in Trinidad and Tobago, Megan worked for the Director General of the Foreign Service on restructuring the promotion system for the Foreign Service’s 15,500 personnel. She has also served in Pakistan, Colombia, Afghanistan, two tours to the U.S. Mission to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the Foreign Service Institute, and as the Special Assistant to former Secretary of State John F. Kerry. Megan spent time as an Adjunct Professor in Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, teaching courses on diplomacy and the Transatlantic Security relationship. She co-founded a non-profit called the Shine Foundation that runs an orphanage in Bong County, Liberia. Megan holds a B.A. in international relations from Trinity University and a Master of Public Affairs from Princeton University. As a native of Oklahoma, she remains an OU Sooner at heart. She is the wife of a fellow diplomat and has four children.
