The Embassy’s Military Liaison Office, through our Military Information Support Team (MIST), worked closely with the Mayor’s office of the Chaguanas Borough Corporation to host a four-day Community Policing Seminar for Trinidad and Tobago Police Service officers, August 20-23.  The intention of the training is to create a model for future training in other communities.

The seminar featured instruction on Community Oriented Policing techniques and the principles of the Resistance and Prevention Program (RAPP) utilized by the Community Policing Secretariat and used by the Pan American Development Foundation.

Chargé d’Affaires John W. McIntyre applauded the training, noting the tenants of Community Oriented Policing is not just in preventing crime, but in building communities.
