Question: Is there a way I can renew my visa without coming in for an interview? Every time I schedule an in-person interview, my appointment gets canceled!
Answer: We understand that ongoing visa appointment cancellations are a continued source of frustration for our applicants. However, if you are wishing to renew a tourist visa that is still valid or has expired within the last 48 months, you may be eligible to renew your visa without coming in for an interview!
To qualify, you must meet the following requirements:
- The visa being renewed must be a B1/B2 or C1/D visa.
- The applicant must be a legal resident of Trinidad and Tobago and be physically present in the country.
- The applicant must not have a recent U.S. visa refusal.
- The previous U.S. visa must not have been issued with a limited-validity timeframe or contain the annotations “CLEARANCE RECEIVED” or “ESTA RECORD REVIEWED.”
Please note that applicants who were under the age of 14 when the previous visa was issued cannot renew their B1/B2 visa by mail. The applicant must make an appointment in-person for fingerprints to be taken.
Any applicant wishing to renew his/her visa by mail must fill out the DS-160 application at ceac.state.gov/ceac and pay the visa application fee at the nearest Scotiabank location. Please note that we do not and cannot accept online payment for your visa application fee. Do not pay or provide your credit card information or your passport information to anyone claiming to be able to review your application or guarantee a visa approval.
After you register your application and fee payment in the visa appointment registration system (ais.usvisa-info.com/en-tt/niv), the website will determine if you meet the interview waiver qualifications or be guided to the visa appointment system. Pay particular attention to the questions and respond accurately.
Please carefully review the list of required documents for your visa type and refrain from sending original documents, as only your passport will be returned to you. Be sure to include a pre-addressed, A5 sized TTPost TrackPak for your return envelope.
