Applications are invited for the 2018 Youth Ambassadors Program. Six students between the ages 15-18 years and one adult mentor will be selected to participate in the three-week exchange program to be held August 7-29, 2018 in the U.S. The U.S. Department of State funds the program, which is implemented by U.S. Embassy Port of Spain and World Learning.

The Youth Ambassadors Program involves skill-based training, interaction with youth from other countries, and engagement with government and non-governmental organizations. The theme of this year’s program is social transformation. U.S. Embassy Charge d’Affaires John W. McIntyre stated, “The program offers a unique opportunity to broaden students’ perspectives, leadership skills, and knowledge of the U.S. I encourage all young leaders who meet the criteria to apply for this transformative experience.”

The adult mentor to the student group will be a teacher or community leader who works with youth and demonstrates success in assisting them to become productive and responsible members of society.

On returning to Trinidad and Tobago, the student participants will embark on a community project under the guidance of the mentor.
